I’m Spring.

I’m a driver. I use reason and logic to move things forward, and I like turning ideas into something real.

When friends have something they want to make happen, they often come to me.

Exploring the unknown

As a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut. I wanted to know what was beyond Earth.

That dream got me interested in science and physics early on. It is also why I later studied materials science, which goes back to the most basic level of physics: atoms.

In 2026, I visited NASA and saw a Falcon 9 up close.

That pull toward the unknown has also given me the courage to step off set paths.

Freedom means having choices

I believe freedom means having choices.

When we started Elos, we went directly to customers through crowdfunding rather than raising venture capital.

I want markets to have room for another option. That is part of why I put my time into startups.

People I want to work with

I want to work with people who have dreams. People with dreams usually bring passion and energy to life.

Life brings plenty of hard problems and challenges. People with dreams understand that the fun is the process: working through different things with a group of people.

I’ve always enjoyed being part of a crew like Luffy’s in One Piece: people with different skills and different stories, exploring together and making each other’s lives richer along the way.

The people I avoid are those who cling to rules without knowing why.

A view I changed

As a student, I thought big companies treated people as cogs in a machine, and that this was wrong.

Later I saw that systems have to be designed that way to be stable, and stability is what lets them produce good work. Much of the redundancy in bureaucracy has a reason to exist. Human society stays stable because of it.

Not settling for the status quo

To me, exploring means not settling for the way things are. I keep changing things and making them better.

I ended my thesis acknowledgement with a line from Elon Musk that captured the spirit of my work: “A good framework for thinking is to boil things down to their fundamental truths and reason up from there.”

Outside work, I bake sourdough, roast coffee, and work out. I’ve been experimenting with higher-protein sourdough and built Sourdough Lab to calculate recipes and keep track of different versions.

I’d like to meet people like that, whether in research, an early team, or a new company.
